The red river hog is such a lovely creature, I’m surprised I had not known of it before! I wonder what the benefits for sleeping in such a formation is.

I’d dare say it’s for heat retention.
Maybe not. Maybe it’s cause it’s cuddly
If Red River Hogs are anything like my run of the mill farm pigs, they’re sleeping that way because it’s comforting. I’ve seen my pigs piled up together even when there’s plenty of room, or the weather is warm. Pigs within a sounder keep physical contact with each other because their eyesight isn’t the best.
