Is this thing scary?

I only know the name “jumping spider” because somebody in my family once told me my mother is afraid of them more than she is other spiders.

It seems pretty not scary to me?

Thanks, Tical00 from the Something Awful Forums. Even though your version of the picture had the outer eyes photoshopped AND I JUST REALIZED IT WAS ALSO MADE TO SMILE.
(Click the image for photocredits. I think I’m going to do it that way from now on.)

A Spider on a Frog on a Turtle

I’ve missed a lot while I was gone. Apparently this has been everywhere, but I hadn’t seen it. I’ll share it with you just incase you somehow missed it too.

These people say they found them like that. It is the best thing.

Thanks Mirick from the Something Awful Forums!

Red-eyed bug

I’m not sure what is wrong with me when I look at nature and think “this reminds me of a CG-movie.” But it’s so easy to imagine the kind of personality this bug might have in one of those movies.

crazy creepy colombian caterpillar

All I know about this picture is that it was taken in Colombia, and that it is simultaneously beautiful and kind of scares me.

These things are really interesting….

Blue crabs are pretty cool. We found this one at the estuary near Puerto PeƱasco in Mexico during Spring Break. We got to go out there with someone from CEDO.
This crab had attitude! Trying to catch it was a whole bunch of excitement in itself… There was a lot of chasing in a creek involved (those fin-like back legs make it FAST in water!), and when Emily grabbed it it pinched her.
Then when we released it, which is what the picture is… It just sat there and started eating!

Mantis

I was looking through Nemo’s Great Uncle’s Flickr photostream a little more, and I found one picture that really amazed me.

Every color is so fantastic.

Mr. Long Antennas

I absolutely adore this guy. He’s probably some invasive exotic beetle that is going to kill everything, but he’s so darn cute!
Unfortunately the picture is kind of fuzzy because he’s so tiny… But I did my best!

I kept thinking this looked familiar….

And then I understood why!

aw crab

Man, sometimes I wish I lived in a crustacean nation.

You can read this crab’s entire personality just by looking at it!
